Today I will talk to you about a program that our country´s government is developing "Programa Nacional de Ingles, Very well" It aims to to make Colombia the country with the highest amount of english speakers in South America for 2025.
Three Fields will be covered by this program:
1-Strategies for teachers formation: As the name implies, they will try their best to raise good speakers to teach other people.
2-Investment in Language studies: The government aims to invest money in institutions so that they can manage their teaching programs better.
3-Articulation with the production Sector: They want to link these english speakers with various kinds of jobs, because you do not want a country filled with English speakers doing nothing with the language.
So, with that clear:
Do you think they will accomplish their objective?
What kind of jobs do you think english speakers are going to work with, other than teaching and translating?
Do you think B2 level is enough or C1 must be the program objective?
Hi Esteban, I hope you are doing well!
ReplyDelete1. Tough question. I do not know. I really do not think they (government) can fulfill their objective, that is too ambitious and time is short. They are not setting a good Public Policy. What they will accomplish is that only large cities speak two languages, no more.
2. Maybe Journalists, lawyers, dentists, taxi drivers, etc.
3. Well, it depends on the profession and on the person. For me, 'B2' is not enough, I would like to go further. Some can say 'C1' is too much, and I agree with them, you do not have to be like perfect, at least that is what I think.
Its fine, its good
DeleteHello.
ReplyDelete1) We think that this programme has a big objective and that is something ambitious. For us, they need to focus of improving English in each school of Colombia and not trying to demonstrate that we have the best English speakers.
2) It depends of opportunities and the lucky, maybe tourist guide.
But in this world you can be the best surgeon or engineer and have a job of driver.
3) That is something subjective but for us that level is okay.
I do not want to be ominous but I do not think that they are capable of reaching the entire Colombian population in our country we have people who either illiterate or people who have not completed high school, I think we should work on this first. This is so much work for all the thing that the have to do, for example: the work-out, investment, training, ect, This is all there is tod do to make the whole program, Furter, how will the population that is not related to any school or college? I think the B1 is good for that program, obviously but in the schools I think the C1 is for high school graduates as they are in the University can achieve another language other than Spanish and English.
ReplyDelete1. Maybe yes perhaps no.
ReplyDelete2. As lapdogs of the government, as counsules, or brain that scaped from this dying place.
3. they are horizons we all want to achive like a perfection we all want. Bu the posibility of that we will see it in years.
2- But why?????????????????
Delete1 With enough work, they will and maybe would meet the horizon they could create from that point of launching the project.
ReplyDelete2. They could do anything I believe, as they can use their language to attend the foreign people in many ways, restaurants, offices, banks, supermarkets, etc.
3.C1 demands more things an b2 is enough to stablish communication skills so we can be able to communicate and so iimport and export culture.
3- It does indeed
DeleteHey there my friend....
ReplyDelete1. I hope so because I would really like to work with all what they propose in this program....looks really interesting.
2. Would be really nice that a teacher become a minister of education because until now every minister is everything but a teacher.
3. C1 should be the goal because with what they propose would be enough to reach that level.
